Mumps

It is aviral infection of human. ,mumps ,meant ‘ to mumble”.  The salivary glands are painful, swollen and become inflamed

Sign and symptoms

. Fever, headache ,ear,s  pain infront  and below of the sides, mouth dryness.

The  salivary glands are painful, swelling. The testis  are painful and swelling .Rash  may  be seen.The  symptoms  are not severe in children. One week before symptoms  the child is contagious and after 8 days.  . Inflammation of parotid glands  appear on one side firstly, then occur on both sides. It is manifested by swelling  that is covering the back of the jaw grooves.when chewing pain is occur and pressed of the parotid glands.Headaches  are occur. In about ten days, the disease regreesses by itslf. The glands become swollen and painful about 1 to 3 days. During the  child swallows, talks, chews or drinks acidic juice. Mumps has complications such as encephalitis  and meningitis .Sterility is the other complication  of the man, Orchitis may occur.

Lack of appetite and vomiting  also occur.. In teenage males and women  .their testicles  and            ovaries  become inflamed and damaged.Abdominal pain and vomiting may occur.

Pathology-  Theparotid glands are affected   and the surrounding tissue become hyperaemic and aedematous. The acinar cells disintegarate  and infiltration with round cell.  without any scaring heal it completely.    

Following  medicines are  uses  for the treatment of mumps.

Belladonna-  It is the most important remedy for the treatment of mumps. Fever, nervous irritability, the glands are swollen, hot .Swelling suddenly subsides and headache is appear.
